Swiss declares neutrality in the face of pressure from US and allies to provide permission to fill already diminishing arms in Ukraine.

Swiss says it will not compromise its neutrality by giving arms to Ukraine, which the West supports. The arms ban disallows its weapons to be used in war, contrasting the willingness of others to allow the conflict to fester.

Swiss President Says Ukraine Will Not Get Arms

President Alain Berset stated that Switzerland would not drop its arms ban on the warring faction, which fellow European nations have done, making a once neutral very complicit in the Ukraine war. He told NZZ am Sonntag weekly that arms made by their defense industry should not be utilized in wars, noted Swiss Info.

Since the start of the Ukraine conflict has been a tempestuous affair since it began last year in February 2022, reported Anews.

Swiss To Upheld Neutrality

Several European nations are asking for permission but did not get approval for the War Materiel Act that bans all buyers of Swiss-made arms from transferring them to a war-torn country.

Berset said that when diplomacy is the better option, Switzerland will not denigrate peace and humanitarian law.He stressed that their participation as the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Geneva Conventions, and the UN's euro-based is shown in its laws, including the export of arms.

Furthermore, it said that keeping humanitarian and human rights law, Geneva Conventions is crucial as the situation stands. Stated that if they allow it to be overruled by certain parties, it could be tantamount to trouble.

Berset remarked that Switzerland would not be part of any war and stressed that Bern would be a party to mediation and peace, never to conflict.

At one point, he called Moscow and Kyiv to end the war and start negotiations for the better. The longer anyone extends the war will not benefit anyone.

Criticized the presence of warmongers in a sector demanding Berne drop its neutral stance. Stated that accommodations have been made to sanction sufficient Russia, but some want to change the status quo.

Lawmakers in Bern are pushing a dangerous precedent to allow arms export to Ukraine, which is unacceptable to the current leadership. The president of Switzerland said they would not allow Swiss-made weapons to be re-exported to Ukraine. Calls the neutral stance essential and be maintained.

Parties debate the outcome, leading to a final decision that will impact it. It is a question of whether to drop it via its direct democracy system in months. Swiss says that it will not end its neutrality for the benefit of Ukraine, stressing that mediation, not conflict, will be its path.
