Google Announces Latest Doodle Competition, Offers $80,000 Award for Most Imaginative Re-Working of Iconic Logo

Google will award $80,000 to any art student who comes up with a winning logo for the search engine's homepage.

The Internet giant's competition will give budding artists the opportunity to rework the iconic logo once more. The winner will receive a $50,000 grant for his or her school, along with a $30,000 scholarship.

According to The Register, this year's theme is slated to be "if I could invent one thing to make the world a better place."

United States students can submit their interpretation of the logo by the deadline, March 20.

Google Doodle team lead Ryan Germick announced the new contest via blog post.

"Creating the best doodle comes with major perks: this year-for the first time ever-the winner of the competition will become an honorary Google Doodler for a day and animate his or her Doodle for the homepage with the Doodle team.

"The winning Doodle will then be featured on the Google homepage for a day for millions to see," Germick wrote.

Google features the "Doodle 4 Google" contest every year. The company allows students to re-imagine their multi-colored logo annually, as a portion of its youth outreach projects, The Register reported.
