'Whacko' Interrupts Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith Press Conference With 9/11 Conspiracy Rant (VIDEO)

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith was interrupted by a man claiming 9/11 was a conspiracy during a post Super Bowl press conference on Sunday.

Smith, who helped lead the Seahawks to a 43-8 victory against the Denver Broncos, was sharing his thoughts on being elected Most Valued Player when a white man in his thirties suddenly grabbed the microphone.

"Investigate 9/11," the man, who was later identified as 30-year-old Matthew Mills, said in front of a stunned Smith. "9/11 was perpetrated by people within our own government," Mills was able to say before being yanked away.

"Some whacko interrupted Malcolm Smith's press conference to say 9/11 was a conspiracy," Sporting News tweeted Monday morning.

"Alright," Smith said, regaining his composure after Mills was taken away. Smith looked around the audience and added, "Is everybody alright? Check his press pass."

Mills, who was arrested after his stunt, told NJ.com he never thought he would be able to slip through Super Bowl security at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium with no press pass or ticket.

"I just said I was running late for work and I had to get in there," Mills, a journalist from Brooklyn, told NJ.com. "It was that simple."

Super Bowl security is supposed to use a barcode to check each ticket or certification. Mills was able to get pass multiple checkpoints with the same excuse, NJ.com reported.

"I didn't think that I'd get that far. I just kept getting closer and closer. Once I got past the final gate into the stadium, I was dumfounded," Mills told NJ.com

Mills said he never intended to make it on TV. Mills made it into the media tent where the live press conference was held after the game was over.

"I just saw my opportunity to get my word out there and I took it," Mills told NJ.com.

Mills was later arrested, charged with trespassing and released.

Mills is associated with We Are Change, an organization that claims to ask "the tough questions the mainstream media doesn't want to ask," NJ.com reported.
