"Flag", a new application for iOS, lets iPhone users print photos for free.
Everyone loves taking pictures and sharing it through social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter, or in photo-sharing sites, like Pinterest and Tumblr. However, not everyone who they want to share their photos with have accounts on these sites. Also, saving those images in the Internet or in e-mail accounts can be temporary.
With the Flag app, iPhone users can print up to 20 fine pictures per month in a year for free. If a user wants more than that, he can buy as many as he wants.
The app is equipped with a photo finishing system where photos will be printed straight from high-end museum quality printers using German 220 gram photo papers. It also has robots with carbon fiber arms and laser cutters.
Users can print the pictures as is or personalize each photo. They can enlarge it up to 24 inches across for free, or larger for an additional small cost; design images with rounded-corners, scalloped edges, and other custom borders and Flag's laser cutters can do the cutting perfectly; add captions on it to make it look like postcards; and mail it within the U.S free of charge.
Flag Founder Samuel Agboola, who has worked with large companies like HBO, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures, Microsoft, Starbucks, and more, said in a Kickstarter announcement, "We believe the edge and the plus is by delivering quality that people aren't used to, and standards they're not used to."
"Our ability to deliver prints relies on making deals with advertisers who'll pay for your printing and postage and we are already talking to a number of significant potential advertisers," he added.
As of press time, Flag has attracted 2,742 backers and generated $63,264 funding. The project will close on Feb. 12 with an expected minimum funding of $100,000.
