The NPD Group has revealed the top ten best-selling games in the United States for both the month of December and the entirety of 2013. Some of the standouts on the list include "Call of Duty: Ghosts." "Grand Theft Auto: V" and "Madden NFL 25."
The list, presented below courtesy of IGN, shows the top ten best selling games for the period between Dec. 1 and Jan. 4 of this year. Total software sales for the month were $1.28 billion, which was down 17 percent from $1.54 billion in Dec. of 2012. Meanwhile, hardware brought in $1.37 billion, which was actually up about 28 percent from $1.07 billion from this time last year.

For the year, game sales brought in $12.97 billion in 2013, down 2 percent from $13.27 billion in 2012. Total software sales were down 11 percent for the year, bringing in $6.34 billion in 2013 compared to $7.09 billion in 2012. The breakdown for 2013 goes as follows:
