Rochester Man Suspected of Hiding Missing Person Matthew Straton's Remains After Body Found in Backyard

A 62-year-old Rochester man is suspected of being connected to the remains of a missing person that were found in his backyard.

Psychiatrist Dr. William Lewek is scheduled to be arraigned in Rochester City Court on Friday morning, when he'll be charged with tampering with physical evidence and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to a report from ABC's local station in New York.

Authorities identified the body as that of 32-year-old Matthew Straton, who was reported missing in October 2013.

Police were called to Lewek's residence on Rowley Street near Park Avenue Wednesday night, after human remains were found in the psychiatrist's backyard. No further details about the investigation, or Lewek, have been released just yet. But authorities told 13WHAM that Lewek doesn't have legal representation as of Friday morning.

13WHAM's executive producer Mike Digiorgio, who lives in the neighborhood where Straton's remains were discovered, gave a special report from his house. He told 13WHAM that he could see directly into Lewek's backyard as police combed through the crime scene.

"Literally, I'm seeing them overturn stones," he stated. "I also saw them take...take a tarp, drag something to another corner while I couldn't see, shovels came out and they started digging through whatever that was. Some gravel, some ground, some pieces of grass that they upturned."
