The road ahead for Nokia certainly looks promising. Now that the brand is back in Finnish hands, a major comeback tone is being drummed.

When HMD Global acquired the license to manage Nokia devices, observers believe that it will take a little while for the organization to map out realistic plans. However, as of late, the company has announced that it will be attending the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2017. It is being perceived that the event will be utilized as the launching pad for the looming new Nokia smartphones.

To institute a reboot for the formerly popular brand, HMD Global Oy has partnered with FIH Mobile, a Foxconn Technology affiliate. Pekka Rantala, a one-time Rovio Chief Officer who also spent seven years with Nokia in the past, will be joining the team as Chief marketing Officer.

The declaration that android-running Nokia products will be unveiled next year comes from no less than the company's CEO Rajeev Suri. During the Capital Markets Day occasion, it cannot be denied that the brand is really onto something. Plans for 2017 and 2018 have been presented at the event.

Based on the shared slides, Nokia has focused mostly on acquisitions, expansions and securing patent licenses in 2016. By next year, aside from unveiling its smartphone product lines, it will be seeking further ventures in mobile, automobile and consumer electronics. In addition to integrating a VR technology approach by 2018, the company seeks to sustain its growth and diversification of which the Digital Health brand is a part of.

As of the moment, HMD Global hopes to release the Nokia P1 and the D1C units by year's end. According to sources, the P1, which will come in 5.5 and 5.2-inch surfaces, is equipped with a 2K AMOLED screen. The device will either be powered by the Snapdragon 820 or 821 processor. Moreover, it has also been graded with an IP68 waterproof rating.

On the other hand, the D1C tablet introduces a 13.8-inch case with a 1080p HD display. This item, which contains a 3GB RAM plus a 16GB memory storage, will be driven by the Snapdragon 430 chipset. Both products will have the Android 7.0 Nougat OS at the helm.
