Galaxy Note 7 has put the South Korean tech giant in a deep quagmire this year. Because of this, users and enthusiasts are concerned that the entire Galaxy series will be facing an untimely demise.

In a recent development, Samsung has unveiled a program that may just save the Galaxy platform. It is likely that the company will be extending its smartphone series after all.

Galaxy Note 7 owners, who traded their units for the S7 or S7 edge, will get another chance for an upgrade. This time, they will have the Note 8 or the S8 with a 50 percent discount.

The move proves to be valuable for the Seoul-based organization considering that the plan rejuvenates the global interest of the South Korean smartphone market. It sets a tone that Samsung will sustain its Galaxy product lines. More than that, it is perceived that Samsung are dead serious in retaining its fan base. The possibility that the group will use the program as a counter response against cases filed in court is highly likely.

The Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy Note 8 are due for release in 2017. With this in mind, it remains to be seen if the South Korean group is on track to erase the bad memories of its Note 7 fiasco.

Based on the number of completion periods, qualified customers will only have to pay 12 payments instead of the usual 24 to complete their S7 and S7 edge balances.

It is unfortunate that the upgrade is only open in South Korea. Whether or not the trade ploy opens across the globe is still uncertain. The program also prohibits those who acquired the Note 7 outright and traded it for another device. In addition, those who bought their items though carrier parties are also disqualified. Offering for the unit trade-in will last on November 30.

Target date for the launching of the Samsung Note 8 and the S8 will be in February or March next year.
