Even though Green Bay Packers' quarterback Aaron Rodgers denied that he's gay he is still reportedly dealing with nasty homophobic slurs on the football field and in the locker room. A source told Hollywood Life, that players have been giving Rodgers flack about his rumored sexuality after he was romantically linked to his personal assistant and former roommate Kevin Lanflisi.
"Some jokes in the locker room so far have been brutal with some saying stuff like, 'No wonder he plays for the Packers' among other derogatory statement," the source said.
"The NFL is littered with so much awful trash talk that the San Francisco defense will be on Aaron's case all game with comments about his sexual preference," the source continued. "The players are assholes on the field and will use anything they can to gain an advantage and Aaron is prepared for it."
The story claiming that Rodgers is gay was first published by TheFameDriven.com after they received an "anonymous tip."
The tipster claimed that people in Wisconsin suspected that the athlete was gay for a while now. The rumors started after Rodgers and Lanflisi got into an argument because the NFL star allegedly changed his mind about publicly coming out as gay.
Radar Online reported over the summer that about four football players were supposed to come out at the same time but allegedly Rodgers changed his mind at the last minute. Lanflisi, who was upset about this, used Twitter to vent about what some people assumed was a failed relationship. Even though he didn't include Rodger's name in any of the tweets it was speculated that he was hinting at a secret romance with Rodgers.
On Dec. 31, the athlete denied the rumors during a radio interview saying that one of the downsides about being famous means dealing with "crazy rumors."
"I'm just gonna say, I'm not gay," he said. "I really really like women. That's all I can say about that."
