Survey: Louisiana has the Worst Drivers in the U.S

A new survey reveals that worst drivers in the U.S can be found in no other than Louisiana.

According to a survey conducted by CarInsuranceComparison.com, a website wherein people can compare features of various car insurance companies, the 25th most populated state in the country tops the list of the worst drivers.

Researchers based the results on the recorded fatality rates per 100 million miles traveled, citations for defying seat belt and traffic signal laws, speeding, reckless driving and DUI infractions from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mothers against Drunk Driving (MADD), and the National Motorists Association.

Louisiana ranked No.1 in speeding tickets, reckless driving, and defying traffic rules.

“There are several reasons for that,” said CarInsuranceComparison.com vice president Jeffrey Crews to USA Today. “One, it's the holiday season. People are traveling, and that comes into play. Plus, this is something that always comes up. Somebody is always saying, ‘This is a horrible state to drive in.’ And they can take this and say ‘I told you so.’

Surprisingly, New York and New Jersey were neither on the top 10 list. This will surely surprise a New Jersey school bus driver who has long disputed that the Empire state, where he lives in, should be occupying the first place.

“I see people driving with no lights on in pitch black, in snow, rain, fog,” David Alston told USA Today. “People tailgate me on my school bus. People blow through stop signs. It's unbelievable. New Jersey's got to be No. 1 or No. 2 for worst drivers.”

So where can we find the best drivers? The 9th annual Allstate America's Best Drivers Report said that they are in still in Fort Collins, Colorado which has occupied the spot for the third consecutive time.

After Louisiana, the next states where we can find the worst drivers are South Carolina, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, Florida, Missouri, North Carolina, Montana, and North Dakota.
