LG G Pad 8.3 Release Date: LG Launches New G Pad with Android 4.4

LG has unveiled its newest LG G Pad 8.3 running on Android 4.4 (Kitkat).

The latest version is expected to have a similar hardware like what the original G Pad has, but since it is a Google-branded tablet, it is meant to receive regular updates to the latest version of the Android’s operating system.

The first G Pad had a customized version of the operating system, so this new version is developed for those looking for something a bit simpler.

The newest LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition features a Snapdragon 600 system-on-chip, a 2GB of RAM, a 1920 x 1200 resolution screen, a 1.2-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera. It measures 8.54 inches tall, 0.33 inches thick, and 4.98 inches wide and weighs 0.74 pounds (11.8 ounces).

There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top edge of the tablet and a microSD card slot that's expandable up to 64GB. A sleep/power button and volume rocker is found at the right part of the tablet. Lastly, there is a Micro-USB port for charging and transferring files at the bottom.

The Pad features an Optimus 3.0 user interface, and it introduces a new function called QPair, a function that enables users to connect the tablet to your smartphone through Bluetooth. Through QPair, users can see incoming calls, hang up on a call, or answer a call with a text message – everything through the tablet.

QPair lets users view the last webpage you were looking at on your smartphone, or the last app you had opened – also as it is also installed on your tablet – with a little popup sticker that displays on your screen.

However, though it is already pre-installed on the LG G pad, users will still need to download and install it on their smartphone to kick off the pairing.

One can get it for $349 for a 16GB memory available in black and white.
