Twitter has purchased a site called "We Are Hunted" which is a music site. Twitter is creating a new music streaming service through this buyout.
We Are Hunted was an Australian digital media start-up company, founded in 2009.
This new service will be serviced through Twitter's own apps created by the company. User are expected to find out what artists are trending through this new service. The service is rumored to be called "Twitter Music".
It is also likely that then new service will be based around an app that offers music choice recommendations.
The new app will be similar to the video sharing ‘Vine’ app released by Twitter in the past.
Stephen Phillips, founder of the site, left a message on the site telling "We will continue to create services that will delight you, as part of the Twitter team. There's no question that Twitter and music go well together. Artists turn to Twitter first to connect with fans, and people share and discover new songs and albums everyday. We can't wait to share what we've been working on at Twitter."
The We Are Hunted site is shutting the site and are due to close user accounts soon.
According to Tech Crunch "this is a sign that Twitter is becoming a hub for all media: news, photos, videos and now music."
Twitter is an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based messages of up to 140 characters, known as "tweets". Twitter now has 500 million registered users as of 2012, generating over 340 million tweets daily and handling over 1.6 billion search queries per day
