The zombies are coming to eat the brain of Android device users.
PopCap, the game developer, announced Thursday that it is finally bringing Plants vs. Zombies 2 experience to Android devices as the game is now available on the Google Play Store. The mobile game is free to download and has been available for iOS devices since August. It also had a soft launch on Android users in Australia and New Zealand early October. But today, the developer made it available worldwide.
The game requires at least Android 2.3, or Gingerbread, to install it on the device.
Like its first offering, the second version is still a strategy game of battling with zombies. However, it has a new look as the player can travel through ancient times to fight with the zombies. One has to survive the zombie apocalypse of Ancient Egypt, The Pirates of the Carribean, and the Wild West. There are new sets of zombies joining the battle as well.
Another addition is the Play Games Support in which users can compete with other users to beat their scores.
A quick look on the Google Play Store shows that the game has already received a 4.5 star rating with over 18,000 votes. Over 80 percent gave it five stars while only six percent gave it one.
Various tech review sites gave it positive feedback as well. “Not just good, not even just great, but an instant classic,” according to NBCNews. “Plants vs. Zombies 2 is a must-download,” CNET says.
Plants vs. Zombies 2 has reached almost 25 million downloads two weeks from its launch in App Store. Android owns majority of the market share so the developer is expecting more downloads. At the moment, total downloads have not reached its five million mark yet but is already beyond 1 million. Not bad for its first few hours.
