Olivia Wilde Opens Up About Justin Bieber Backslash

In an interview with Jay Leno in "The Tonight Show", actress Olivia Wilde opened up about the controversial Justin Bieber backslash.

Wilde faced the wrath of many Bieber fans and followers on Twitter after reacting to pictures of Bieber shirtless on the streets of London.

"Bieber, put your ... shirt on. (unless you lost all your shirts in a fire in which case my condolences and please purchase a new shirt.)," the Tweet read.

The actress previously jokingly told CNN she was scared Bieber's fans would actually throw acid on her face.

In an interview on "The Tonight Show", Wilde said she made the comment out of love and said that's what she would have said if she saw her younger brother without a shirt.

"But I have to tell you, Jay, what happened was I think people misunderstood, thought I was mean-spirited and didn't realize it was said with love," she said. "And I got a lot of interesting feedback from his fans."

When asked by Leno about how many people responded, the actress revealed that about 35 million people did. She also admitted she received some "great notes" which at first, she thought were mean, but later concluded that they were just "friendly advice" like the one she gave Bieber in her tweet.

The actress also read some of those notes out loud on the show.

"Are you a lesbian or are you too old?'" she read, "And it's great because it's a question I'd never asked myself before and I was wondering am I too old to be a lesbian? Because I did just have a birthday so I may have missed my window."

" 'Put your shirt over you mouth,' which I'm assuming is a Shakespearean insult, so I thought that was useful for future arguments," she said. "There's about 17,000 others but they have too many expletives to say on your show."
