Eddy Julio Martinez still remains unsigned over two months into the 2015-2016 international signing period. The 20-year-old is ranked as the No. 1 international free agent available after a number of MLB clubs already scoured the market just hours into the signing period back on July 2.

However, he's garnering interest from the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants, who appear to be the frontrunners, as well as the Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox, according to the latest rumors. The Reds are the latest team to jump into the mix.

"Top Cuban free agent center fielder Eddy Julio Martinez was scheduled to work out Tuesday with the Reds after previous private workouts with the Dodgers and Giants and is expected to sign an eight-figure deal sometime in the future," Jon Heyman of CBS Sports wrote earlier in the week.

Here's what Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com wrote back in August:

"The 6-foot-2, 195-pound outfielder played two seasons for Las Tunas in Cuba's Serie Nacional. He left Cuba in November and established residency in Haiti in February. Martinez, who has been training in the Dominican Republic, had four hits in an open showcase last week with fellow Cuban prospects outfielder Yordan Alvarez, third baseman Lazaro Hernandez and catcher Rafael Vinales. The Dodgers and the Giants were once considered the front-runners, but the Mariners, Cubs, Reds, White Sox and Braves continue to show interest."

According to Martinez's player profile on Baseball-Reference.com, the youngster batted .229/.333/.324 with 9 runs scored, 1 home run and 19 RBIs in 40 games with Las Tunas back in 2013 as an 18-year-old.

Heyman noted Martinez's signing bonus is expected to reach $10 million. As a result, the Reds could be out of the running for the outfielder, even though he had a workout with the team earlier this week.

At this point it appears as if the Dodgers, Cubs and Giants could be the frontrunners for Martinez. Each of these MLB clubs exceeded their international bonus pool limits for the 2015-2016 signing period, which means they are prohibited from signing any international prospect for more than $300,000 over the next two signing periods (beginning on July 2, 2016). This gives them more incentive to ink a player of Martinez's caliber while they can before the restrictions are enacted.
