The friend who was with the woman currently alleging that Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane raped her during an after party at the NHL star's lake-front home in Hamburg, N.Y. early last month has been subpoenaed to appear before a grand jury, according to a report from Scott Levin of NBC affiliate WGRZ.

Per Levin, the witness will appear before a grand jury on Sep. 8. Kane is currently under investigation for the rape of a woman he met at a downtown Buffalo nightclub and brought back to his home in Hamburg. No charges have been filed against Kane at this point.

Frank Clark, a former Erie County District Attorney, indicated to WGRZ that he does not expect decisions to be made by the grand jury soon.

"Right now, it looks as though the decider as to whether or not Patrick Kane is guilty of any criminal conduct or not will be an Erie County grand jury," Clark said, via WGRZ.

Clark also indicated that it's possible that Kane will be asked to appear before the grand jury as well.

Previous reports have suggested that Kane met the woman at Skybar in Buffalo on Aug. 1. Kane brought the woman and her friend - the witness mentioned above - back to his home in Hamburg where the woman claims she went alone into a side room. Kane allegedly followed her into the room, overpowered her and raped her. Other reports have suggested that the woman had bite marks on her shoulders and scratch marks on her legs as a result of the incident. She went to a hospital after the attack and was tested via a rape kit.

Kane has reportedly met with police already.
