Stephen Colbert wasn't too happy that Jeb Bush was raffling off tickets to his first episode as host of "The Late Show" without consulting him first. It also didn't help that in the raffle announcement Bush referred to seeing the show with "a new host," rather than "Stephen Colbert."

But the GOP presidential candidate isn't entirely at fault, as he explained in a video posted to his Twitter on Wednesday.

"I thought the host was Amy Schumer. I totally blew it," Bush said from the Philadelphia airport.

The whole misunderstanding began when Bush launched a contest asking his supporters to donate $3 for a chance to win a trip to New York City and a VIP ticket for the "very first taping of 'The Late Show' with a new host." The winner also would get to have dinner with his National Finance Co-Chair Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets.

Colbert responded by launching his own raffle to win a trip and submit a non-obscene question for the host (which he hopes is Amy Schumer because she's hilarious) to ask Bush on air. Contestants must donate $3 and all proceeds will go to the Yellow Ribbon Fund, which supports injured service members and their families. After he apologized in his video, Bush added that supporters would only need to donate $1 to enter his contest. He also would donate to Colbert's raffle and give $3 to the Yellow Ribbon Fund.

But Colbert wasn't done yet. He recruited Amy Schumer to film a short video in which she posed as "Stephen Colbert." "I can understand why you thought I was Amy Schumer. I have been getting in touch with my feminine side lately," she said and thanked Bush for his donation.

Bush and George Clooney will appear as Colbert's first guest on "The Late Show," which premieres Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
