Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's engagement has officially been called off. E! News and People magazine can both confirm that Cyrus and Hemsworth have ended their four-year relationship after months of speculation that the two were having problems.

A source who spoke to E! said the split was "Miley's decision, after coming to grips with Liam being what she believed was less than faithful to her."

The last time the couple was spotted out in public together was on Aug. 8 at the premiere of Hemsworth's movie, Paranoia" in Los Angeles. A source told US Weekly at the time that Cyrus and Hemsworth smiled for the cameras like they were supposed to but in private they were like strangers.

"Miley and Liam acted like they didn't even know each other the entire night," the source said. "She was wearing her ring but they acted as if they were strangers."

A couple weeks later Cyrus walked the red carpet at the MTV VMAs alone once again igniting rumors that her relationship with the actor was pretty much over. Her performance with Robin Thicke didn't help quiet the rumors as she twerked and grinded against the married man. It was reported that Hemsworth refused to watch the performance but definitely heard about it and was completely embarrassed by her behavior.

Things got even worse for the couple after it was reported over the weekend that Cyrus had unfollowed Hemsworth on Twitter. Neither one hinted about the split on the social networking site. Hemsworth posted about the upcoming Floyd Mayweather/Canelo Alvarez fight while the 20-year-old singer continued to promote her album.

The "Hunger Games" actor was even spotted after the fight with a mystery woman at club in Las Vegas, the Daily Mail reports. The actor was photographed entering the club with some friends and was said to have spent a lot of time with the girl flirting.
