At it's pre-Gamescom press event on Tuesday, Sony announced the release date for the PlayStation 4 as being November 15 in the U.S. and Canada and November 29 in Europe. Although the release date was probably the biggest news out of the press event, it wasn't the only news. Taking a queue from Microsoft and Xbox, PlayStation unveiled its full list of 33 games that will be available at launch (available below).
Boasting 33 different game titles coming before December 31 2013, and many more likely to come in the future, Sony took the opportunity at the showcase to debut and talk about some of the more exciting features coming to the next-generation console in the fall. Another important thing to note out of this year's Gamescom is what PS4 and Xbox One gamers will have to do in order to upgrade their old PS3 or 360 games. Luckily for all gamers, it won't require a lot of work or money. Sony says it will offer upgrades to digital PS4 copies at a "significant discount." This means if you want to test drive the new Call of Duty on your previous-generation console before going full upgrade, you have that luxury for only a few extra dollars.
In all, Sony says it will launch more than 180 PS4 titles that are currently in development. Among the most anticipated of these 180 games are: "The Witcher 3," "Destiny," "Diablo III," "Mad Max," "Dragon Age," "The Order: 1996," "infamous: Second Son," "Rime," "Hell Drivers" and "Everybody's Gone to The Rapture." These games are expected to release for the PS4 at some point in the future.
