Ever since Disney announced that they were planning on making three new "Star Wars" movies, beginning with "Star Wars: Episode VII" in 2015, it was assumed that the premiere date would be in May.
Why May? May is "Star Wars" month. Not only because it is the month containing the dorkiest made up holiday of all time, "Star Wars" Day (May 4, as in May the Fourth be with you), but it is the month that every previous "Star Wars" film has premiered in.
Multiple sources have told Devin Faraci of Badass Digest that a December release date, probably in the middle of the month, is likely for the new "Star Wars." Faraci is speculating that there are two reasons contributing to the decision for a December release. The first being that 2015 is going to be an extremely crowded summer for movies, the Disney owned "The Avengers" sequel is premiering in May, and they wanted to avoid getting lost in the shuffle.
The second reason is that there were some fears that J.J. Abrams might not be able to have the film done by May and that having a couple extra months to work on the film would be beneficiary, according to Badass Digest.
No new nuggets of information regarding the film were dropped at Disney's D23 Expo so there is still rampant speculation about who will appear in "Star Wars: Episode VII." One actor who would be interested in returning to the series is Dave Prowse. The name may be unrecognizable and his voice never even appeared in the movies; Prowse was the actor who played Darth Vader, according to Hull Daily Mail.
"I didn't like 'Star Wars' I, II and III at all. I think the common opinion now is they were really bad movies," Prowse told the Hull Daily Mail. "There's no comparison with the original movies. Unfortunately, Darth Vader was killed off, but it would be nice to come back and do another character, because no one's ever seen my face. I was never unmasked."
