Sarah Silverman is returning to Showtime's "Masters of Sex" for a recurring arc in the upcoming third season.

Showtime announced on Wednesday that Silverman will reprise her role as Helen who is trying to have a baby with her partner Betty (Annaleigh Ashford), a difficult task for a lesbian couple in 1966. Silverman last appeared for two episodes during season two.

In season three, Williams Masters (Michael Sheen) and Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan) are dealing with the glare of the national spotlight when they unveil their sex study. Their work will have a profound impact on contemporary relationships including their own three-way "marriage" with Masters' wife Libby (Caitlin FitzGerald).

"Masters of Sex" is based on the real-life pioneers of human sexuality, Masters and Johnson, and adapted from Thomas Maier's book, "Masters of Sex: The Life and Times of William Masters and Virginia Johnson, The Couple Who Taught America How to Love."

Silverman also provides her voice for the Fox animated comedy "Bob's Burgers" and stars in the new indie movie "Ashby," which premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival.

The third season of "Masters Of Sex" will premiere on Sunday, July 12 at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
