Google announced the launch of a community site named "Views." which allows users to share 360-degree photos on Google Maps.
Google has launched a new community site called Views, Tuesday, which allows users to share and browse 360 degree photos on Google Maps. After reaching the heights of Eiffel Tower and Burj-Khalifa with its Street View service, the web giant has taken a step to give users a chance to pin and share their experiences with Google Maps.
The Views website is available for the public to share their 360 degree imagery. Users must sign in with their Google + accounts and click the blue camera button at the top right hand corner of the page. Users will get an option to select the photos from their Google + photos. In addition, users can share "photo spheres" from the Gallery in Android by tapping "Share" and selecting Google Maps, product manager Evan Rapoport, Google Maps & Photo Sphere, said in a blog post.
Users can only upload panoramic images shot from any Android phone with 4.2 or higher version. Almost all Google devices including the newest Nexus 7 include the feature in camera options. Users can also upload their panoramas created on DSLR cameras.
On the Views site, Google has added some amazing panoramas from the popular Street View collections. Users can click Explore on the top of the page, next to the search bar, and enjoy 360 degree images of various places. Several community-contributed photo spheres also appear on the Google Map, which are geo-tagged.
