Given his low but raspy voice, extremely muscular and scary build and current popularity, it's amazing no one has thought to cast Vin Diesel as a villain before. It's possible Marvel will be the first to put the "Fast and Furious 6" star in a bad guy role, possibly in the next "Avengers" movie.
All of this is rumor at this point, the only news is a post from the actor on his Facebook page the reads "Marvel has reqested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me..."
Despite minimal news, many have already began speculating the action star might be offered the job of playing the ultra-villain Thanos in the next "Avengers" film. Thanos was the villian teased at the end of the first Avengers movie. Thanos' comic book persona is most famous for killing off half of the living beings in the universe to prove his love for Death with his infinity gauntlet, a glove with gems that makes him omnipitent.
The Huffington Post notes the role would put Diesel in the character of "an outright evildoer," which is traditionally a position the actor avoids. At worst, he's willing to sign on to anti-hero roles like Riddick in the upcoming third installment of the series titled "Riddick: Rule the Dark".
While a Thanos rumor is, of course, the juiciest, Variety says Marvel has several films lined up through 2017. They are mostly unnamed at this time but alternative properties for Diesel to get involved with include "Dr. Strange," "Black Panther" and "Ant-Man." In other words, Diesels meeting with Marvel could mean anything at this point.
In fact, his meeting could mean nothing. Although the actor's career is hot right now, it's simultaneously a terrible time for him to take on new projects. He's committed to star in "Fast and Furious 7," which Universal wants to release as early as next summer.
Diesel has hinted this could turn into several more "Fast and Furious" sequels. This could cause problems for him if he decided to join phase 2 of Marvel's plan to release more films from The Avengers, which is expected to be very lucrative as the first film won several awards at "The 38th Annual Saturn Awards." This summer, "Iron Man 3" was released as the first post-Avengers film. "Thor: The Dark World" will come next followed by "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
