It would appear that director Neill Blomkamp ("District 9" and the upcoming "Chappie") had a little side project, envisioning a whole new movie in the "Alien" franchise. Whatever the project was, it isn't happening, but he went ahead and posted come concept art on his Instagram page, regardless.

Blomkamp did clarify via Twitter that all this work was apparently unofficial, saying: "They [the studio] didn't really even know I was working on it ha." He went on to say "this has nothing to do with the studio, I just feel like I might do something else instead. In which case why not show some work."

Why not? We'll tell you why not, Neill. Because this looks amazing and now we want this movie to get made. The return of Ellen Ripley...and she's wearing a space jockey helmet? The return of an acid- scarred Corporal Hicks? Sign me up. Right now. The auteur did go on to tease: "Maybe I'll go back to it...love the world."
