On Tuesday, Marvel Cinematic Universe unleashed "Phase 3" and announced eight new movies being released over the next five years. Among the list of superhero films expected to hit theaters are "Captain America: Civil War," "Doctor Strange," "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," "Black Panther" and more.
With the release of so many films, fans should expect casting announcements (or at least rumors) to surface. On Wednesday, just one day after Marvel's big announcement, rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J kicked off the rumor mill talk when he tweeted about an unspecified role in a Marvel movie.
"I'm so ready for this role in Marvel movie," he wrote, leaving fans to figure out what his tweet meant.
Some superhero fanatics commented hoping that the "NCIS: Los Angeles" star had landed a role in the upcoming "Black Panther" movie, while others thought he'd be perfect as Luke Cage. One Twitter user jokingly said she already knows what super power the 46-year-old will have.
"His super power will be licking his lips. The side effects is it only work on women," @misstwans tweeted.
LL hasn't responded to the chatter since his initial tweet but he could be trying to pull a "Vin Diesel." As Screenrant.com pointed out, Diesel teased fans on Twitter months before his role as Groot in "Guardians of the Galaxy" was officially announced.
Back in August, Marvel boss Kevin Feige told Wired that Diesel's constant Twitter talk about his Marvel role is what helped him land the gig.
"There was this odd fever in the online community about what Vin was going to do with Marvel," he said.
"We wanted an actor, someone who could actually do that emotion [of Groot]. During the casting process, Vin had come in for a general meeting, and he has a gigantic fan base, in particular a Facebook fan base," Feige added. "He started posting just about his meetings with us and, I think we were doing a press visit on 'Winter Soldier,' and people were going 'have you met with Vin Diesel yet?' or 'How did your meeting with Vin Diesel go?'"
