Kesha and her producer, Dr. Luke, are reportedly at war. The pop star filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke claiming that she was sexually, physically, emotionally and verbally abused for over 10 years. According to TMZ, Kesha stated in the suit that the producer abused her to the point that she almost died.
The "Blow" singer alleges that Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, began abusing her when she first signed with his company at 18 years old. In one instance, she recounted a time when the producer allegedly made her snort a substance before boarding a plane and, while in the air, sexually assaulted her.
Kesha said that Dr. Luke allegedly gave her drugs and alcohol to lower her defenses, TMZ reports. In the suit, the 27-year-old also said that Dr. Luke gave her "sober pills" after they had been drinking. The pills supposedly knocked Kesha unconscious and she claims when she awoke, she was naked in Dr. Luke's bed.
Kesha said she was sore and had no memory of the previous night. She is now asking the judge to release her from her contract with Dr. Luke.
"This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for 10 years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke," her attorney told TMZ. "The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented, young female artist into submission for his personal gain. Kesha is focused on moving her life and her career beyond this terrible time."
According to TMZ, she also said Dr. Luke physically attacked her and she was forced to run outside barefoot and hide in the mountains. Kesha attributes Dr. Luke's alleged abuse to prompting her eating disorders which led her to check into rehab earlier this year.
Dr. Luke responded to Kesha's claims with a lawsuit of his own saying that she is making up stories to get out of her contract. He also believes her mother, Pebe, is behind the allegations.
