Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts Battling Cancer Again, Days After Hospital Release for Double Pneumonia

WWE Hall of Famer Jake "the Snake" Roberts announced Saturday night that he was battling cancer for a second time. The 59-year-old wrestler was hospitalized on Aug. 29 after falling ill from double pneumonia.

During his first public appearance following his hospital stay, Roberts told the crowd at a Future of Wrestling show in Las Vegas that he was feeling better but said doctors had found cancer in his chest.

"I'm just proud, man, to be here tonight, 'cuz you know... When I woke up and I'd been asleep for three days and then I found out that... I got to have some more stuff taken out of my chest, and it's cancer," he said. "They gotta do what they gotta do... I'm not afraid man, I'm very comfortable with my faith. Faith not only in God above, but faith in the people I have around me."

"I'm not crying," Roberts added. "I'm 59 years old and I kicked some serious ass for a long, long time."

Earlier this year, Roberts underwent surgery on his knee after doctors found a cancerous tumor the size of a half-dollar behind his leg.

"If the devil can't defeat me, cancer doesn't stand a chance in hell," he told TMZ at the time. "Pray for sick children who face this horrible disease, 'cause The Snake will be just fine."
