Mark Ballas Injured During 'Dancing with the Stars’ Finale Rehearsal, Will He Still Compete for the Mirror Ball Trophy? (TWEETS)

Monday night's episode of "Dancing With the Stars" could be missing a fan favorite.

People Magazine reported that professional dancer Mark Ballas was injured Sunday while rehearsing his freestyle routine with celebrity partner Candace Cameron Bure.

The show's cameras reportedly caught the 27-year-old dancer and his partner practicing a move that involved Ballas lifting Bure onto his shoulders. Ballas reportedly popped out his shoulder during the lift and collapsed on the floor, yelling in pain. He was taken to the hospital and treated immediately, and was later released.

Several reports noted that Ballas might not be able to recover in time for Monday's two-part season finale of "Dancing With the Stars." He was reportedly advised to sit out of the upcoming episode.

"Mark was seriously injured during camera blocking," a DWTS spokesperson told People. "His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released. It's unclear whether or not he'll be able to perform on Monday's show."

Professional dancers, Derek Hough and Cheryl Burke, were reportedly nearby and quickly came to Ballas' aid.

"I'm not sure exactly what happened but I think it kind of came out and went back in," Hough told "Good Morning America." "What makes me nervous a little bit is that he's had a serious shoulder surgery before, on the other shoulder."

Ballas already has a history of shoulder problems, since he dislocated his shoulder while performing the cha-cha on the Season 5 finale with his then-partner, actress Sabrina Bryan.

"He dislocated his shoulder during rehearsals and he should have been out there on the floor tonight," judge Bruno Tonioli told People at the time. "But he is so committed to this show and he is such a professional he said, 'I am going to dance.' He came out here and gave it his all and now he's made it worse. I am devastated. That boy is one of the best dancers we've ever had. He's a star. I am so worried. I just pray to god he's OK."

If Ballas is unable to perform, Bure will do the rehearsed routine with another dancing professional. Three other couples remain, including Olympian Meryl Davis partnered with Maks Chmerkovskiy, television star James Maslow partnered with Peta Murgatroyd, and Paralympian Amy Purdy, who's dancing with Hough.

The winner of the mirror ball trophy will be announced on Tuesday night.
