With less than a month to go before the 71st NBA season officially kicks off, rumors say that Houston Rockets is interested to trade in order to get 10-year NBA veteran Rudy Gay.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, Rudy Gay has informed the Sacramento Kings that he plans to exercise his player option in 2017 to become an unrestricted free agent. The report also says that he doesn't have any plans to negotiate a new deal. Since then, the Kings is looking for good deals to trade Rudy Gay.

Reports say that Miami Heat plans to go for Rudy Gay, what with their rebuilding situation. Dwyane Wade already signed a deal with the Chicago Bulls and Chris Bosh has health issues, rendering him unfit to play. And adding a reliable scorer can be a big lift to the Heat, But the question there is how can Pat Riley propose an offer to sign Gay, who holds a stocky price.

While playing for the Miami Heat is still uncertain, another NBA destination for Rudy Gay is the Houston Rockets, according to Morning News USA. When Michael Beastley was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for Tyler Innis, the position of a scoring forward was opened for the Rockets.

Rudy Gay is a big time scorer. A 10-year veteran who averaged 18.4 point, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in 723 NBA regular season games, per wikipedia.

The Houston Rockets need another big time scorer to back-up NBA All-Star James Harden. Having multiple veteran scorers is essential in an NBA team, especially during playoffs. Pairing Gay with Harden would provide the Rockets a lot of scoring options. The only question is that if those two heavy scorers could be a perfect fit on the court. Both players dominate the ball too much. Getting in sync with each other is still doubtful.

The Rockets do have an opening for a talent with the caliber of Rudy Gay. But is Gay really the right fit for the Houston Rockets?
