The Dallas Cowboys, for the first time in quite a while, will be picking early in the 2016 NFL Draft. The team has the fourth overall pick, which means they will get a shot to select one of the top quarterbacks in the draft. Jerry Jones has come out and stated the Cowboys will not be looking to select a top quarterback, so there really is no need for the Cowboys not to look for a trade to move back in the draft.

Typically trades to move back in the draft are made because a team feels compelled to take a player that they will absolutely not have a shot at later in the draft. The Cowboys might have limited their trade value by stating they wouldn't take a quarterback with that pick but it doesn't mean other teams around them wouldn't try to select a top quarterback.

This is why the Los Angeles Rams are the best trade partners for the Dallas Cowboys. The Rams would be the only team scared enough to lose out on a franchise quarterback they might want. It is hard to believe that the Rams would want to rely on Peyton Manning after the season he just had and it will be the franchise's first year in Los Angeles in decades, so a losing season could put a damper on the whole relocation.

The Rams would need to move up early in a draft eventually as they would need to select a franchise quarterback in the future, whether or not it is this season or the next. So who would the Rams trade? In all likelihood, Todd Gurley and Aaron Donald would be off the table so the Cowboys could focus on getting their first and second round picks, and a player such as Alec Ogletree, Trumaine Johnson, Robert Quinn or William Hayes.

This Rams defensive line is deep, so they may take a hit in terms of production but they would be a better overall team with a franchise quarterback. The Cowboys could likely swing this expensive trade without any remorse if they landed those picks and a quality player but then they will need to rethink their entire draft strategy.

Trading with San Francisco would be feasible and you wouldn't even have to include a player but the 49ers could just wait for the quarterback they want to fall to them especially now that the Cowboys said they will not take one.

The Rams are far enough away to where they could be afraid to lose an opportunity on a quarterback. The Cowboys would likely relish the opportunity to trade back for star running back prospect Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys will have a lot of avenues to work with as the 2016 offseason rolls along.
