Demi Lovato Performs Dark and Emotional Ballad 'Warrior' For the First Time at Redlight Traffic Dignity Gala (PHOTOS/VIDEO)

At the Redlight Traffic Dignity Gala in Beverly Hills, Demi Lovato gave a heart-wrenching performance of one of her darkest and most personal songs, the ballad "Warrior" from her latest album, "Demi."

Co-written by Lovato, the emotional delivery earned her a standing ovation at the event, in which she also performed her her very personal song "Skyscraper" and newest single, "Neon Lights."

Fans have speculated that "Warrior" isn't about a boy or a relationship gone wrong ever since it first came out back in May, and in an interview with Cosmopolitan, she admitted so much after her interviewer brought up the lyrics, "There's a part of me I can't get back/ A little girl grew up too fast/ All it took was once, I'll never be the same/ Now I'm taking back my life today."

"My family knows what it's about. When I'm ready to open up that subject with the outside world, then I'll be free to talk about it. But right now, it's kind of one of those things where the lyrics speak for me," the 21-year-old star said at the time.

This year has been a bittersweet one for Lovato, as she's watched her fourth studio album premiere at No. 3 on Billboard and go platinum, renewed her role as a judge and mentor on "The X-Factor," but also put her biological father, Patrick Lovato, to rest after he died earlier this year.

The star has always had a tumultuous relationship with Patrick, whom she's penned several emotional songs about, including "For the Love of a Daughter" and, as fans speculate, "Shouldn't Come Back." It is unclear whether or not "Warrior" is also about Patrick, something the otherwise open Lovato has chosen to keep private.

At the event, which supports the end of child trafficking, Lovato kept her newly-dyed teal hair back in a sleek ponytail and wore an all-black ensemble, including peep-toe stiletto pumps, black leather pants, a loose-fitting top, a black wool blazer and a large statement necklace.
