The new season of "Glee" debuted on Sept. 26. As much as producers tried to make the premiere episode as cheerful and upbeat as possible there was a sad reminder that Cory Monteith and his character, Finn Hudson, were absent.

The show did give a subtle reminder to Monteith at the very beginning. The show started off with Lea Michele's character, Rachel Berry, going to a callback audition for "Funny Girl." Rachel overhears the director saying that she would be perfect for the role but is "too green" and they didn't want to risk casting her. A downtrodden Rachel leaves the audition and begins to sing "Yesterday" by the Beatles as she walks down the street.

At one point she glances at her phone and is seen looking at a photo of her high school glee club - which also includes Finn  Hudson. Even though this was the only reference to the late actor, show creator Ryan Murphy already revealed that his death wouldn't be addressed until the third episode, which airs Oct. 10.

Recently more details about the episode have been revealed including the song the cast will sing. According to Hollywood Life, the song will be "Seasons of Love" from the Broadway show "Rent."

"The [episode] is more of a celebration of Cory's life, and the difference he made to us and the fans of the show," a source told Hollywood Life. "As much as it will be [part of the 'Glee' season] it also feels like a stand-alone episode."

E! News reports that several of the original cast members will be returning for the tribute episode including Amber Riley (Mercedes), Harry Shum Jr. (Mike Chang), Mark Salling (Puck) and Jaayma Mays (Emma).

The premiere episode also saw Kurt and Blaine rekindle their love and take things to the next level by getting engaged. An ecstatic Blaine asks everyone for their help including Vocal Adrenaline and the Warblers.

"I want this to be more than just an ordinary proposal. I want this to be a cultural statement," he says.

Not everyone was thrilled about the proposal fearing that they might be too young but in the end Kurt accepts.
