Despite claims that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would not seek outside help while raising their new baby Prince George, new sources reveal that Prince William's former nanny, Jessie Webb, has been asked to make a comeback at Kensington Palace, the Mirror reports.

Though she is now 71 and retired, that didn't stop Kate Middleton and Prince William from asking if she'd like back her old job, even though according to the Mirror, Princess Diana fired her years ago. Webb was around for Prince William and brother Prince Harry during their parent's tumultous divorce, and has always loved Prince William.

Prince William's paternity leave is up and he has returned to his air force duty as an RAF search-and-rescue helicopter pilot on Anglesey, North Wales, and with the Duchess left at home with her parents at the Middleton manor in Bucklebury, Berkshire, it won't be long before renovations on the couple's Kensington Palace residence Apartment1A are complete and they'll surely need an extra pair of helping hands, especially when trying to juggle parenthood and royal duties.

"They both accept the view that they won't be able to do it all. There is also a feeling that Kate might lay herself open to criticism if she is seen letting her mother have too much influence," a royal source told the Mirror. "William has fond memories of Jessie and they've put the idea to her that she comes back. I think she's very flattered."

Webb provided stability for Prince William and Prince Harry during the darker days of their parent's marriage, back when Princess Diana and Prince Charles fought and barely spoke to one another. While we don't think this will be the case for our beloved Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, we can see why her presence would be much appreciated in their new home, and why they would entrust her with Prince George.

However, a source also claims that "Jessie might have mixed feelings about a return to KP. Diana got rid of her. She just took against her, like she used to with people. I think she rather irrationally thought Jessie was giving the boys too much food."

Webb worked for Princess Diana for five years, later helping out Viscount Linley and his wife Serena before retiring in a royal apartment in South London. She was a guest at the royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess, and has remained good friends with Prince William despite her falling out with his mother all those years ago.

As he's been busy back at work, Prince William has been "missing [his wife and son] like crazy," according to a source, who added however that "for he first time in two weeks he's had a good night's sleep."
