It's official! "Prison Break" is back!

FOX network is developing a limited-run revival of the fan-favorite drama that ran from 2005-2009. The award-winning TV series, which starred Wentworth Miller (Michael) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln) as brothers, will consist of around 12 episodes and feature a closed-ended storyline, TV Line reported.

The storyline would be similar to the limited-series format that "24: Live Another Day" debuted last year.

The news of a revival isn't all that surprising, since rumors of the show's comeback has been flying around since earlier this year.

Miller and Purcell exclusively told E! News at the 2015 Winter TCA Press that they were completely ready to reprise their roles as brothers on the hit series - and FOX was "potentially excited" about moving forward with the idea.

"We actually floated the idea to Fox very casually and they seemed very not casual about this interest," Miller said "They seemed to think there was something there."

"To go back and do something like we did at the end of season four, where there were those two standalone episodes were Sarah was in trouble; it was like a hidden chapter, we didn't know this, but we're going to share this with you, wouldn't it be cool to go back and layer one of those things in," Miller said. "Like another standalone chapter, this is what you didn't see before. Or a where are they now, it's five years later, limited series kind of thing. I think that'd be really cool."

While FOX continues to sort out details regarding the show, fans can watch Miller and Purcell as villains Captain Cold and Heatwave on the new superhero series "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," which will debut midseason on The CW.
