With the NFL Draft officially in the books, football analysts around the country are engaging in a time honored tradition: power rankings. The rankings are meant to reflect the public opinion of a team at this moment and it's interesting to see what some of the biggest sports sites had to say about the reigning Super Bowl champion New England patriots.

ESPN.com had the Pats second behind the Seattle Seahawks.

"The Patriots used the draft to bulk up the offensive and defensive lines, drafting six linemen in the first five rounds. The average weight of the Patriots' first seven picks was 276 pounds."

NFL.com ranked the champs No. 1 overall.

"New England recaptures the top spot by virtue of a stellar draft. One notion Bill Belichick has derived from those whimsical jaunts on Jimmy Johnson's boat out in the Keys: Acquire as many picks as possible, so you can get as many players off your big board as possible."

CBSSports.com shared that sense of optimism as they also had New England at the head of the pack.

"They used the draft to fortify the defensive front. That's smart. Tom Brady will keep this team at the top. Team to beat."

But FoxSports.com also believed that the Seahawks were just one step ahead of the pats, despite losing to them in the Super Bowl.

"After losing several key contributors in free agency, the Patriots restocked the trenches on both sides of the ball."
