Pinocchio is actually going to become a real boy this time around in Disney's newest live-action movie.

The story of a marionette carved from wood who dreams of becoming a real boy will quite literally come to life in this new film being written by Peter Hedges. The story will loosely be based on the original 1940 Disney version, reported Deadline

The live action film will focus on the father-son relationship Pinocchio has and the strains he puts on the relationship when he is constantly lying and stretching the truth in his fantasy world.

This live action rendition of "Pinocchio" is just one of many Disney live action movies put into production that were based on classic animated films.

Most recently Disney announced a live-action feature of "Winnie The Pooh," which will focus on a grown-up Christopher Robin rediscovering Pooh Bear and the Hundred Acre Wood.

Other recently announced live-action movies by Disney include "The Jungle Book" (2016), "Beauty and the Beast" (2017) and "Dumbo" (TBA), as well as an "Alice in Wonderland" sequel from Tim Burton.

Before Disney got their hands on "Pinocchio" it was a children's book called "Adventures of Pinocchio" written by Italian writer Carlo Collodi in 1883.
