Disney will revisit the story of Mulan for its next live-action movie.

The studio is developing an adaptation of its 1998 animated film, "Mulan," which centers on the legendary Chinese female warrior Hua Mulan, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The script comes from writing team Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. Chris Bender and J.C. Spink will produce.

The animated "Mulan" was a retelling of the classic Chinese folktale about a young woman who steps in for her weak father when he's called to fight in the army against the invading Huns. She disguises herself as a man and is joined by a tiny dragon Mushu to help in her journey.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." star Ming-Na Wen voiced Mulan (Lea Salonga provided her singing voice) while Eddie Murphy voiced Mushu

"Mulan" is the latest animated Disney flick chosen for a live-action reboot. It will follow the success of 2014's "Maleficent," starring Angelina Jolie, and 2015's "Cinderella," starring Lily James and Cate Blanchett.

Disney's other future live-action adaptations include "The Jungle Book" (2016), "Beauty and the Beast" (2017) and "Dumbo" (TBA) as well as an "Alice in Wonderland" sequel from Tim Burton next year.
