"Winnie the Pooh" has joined the long list of animated classics that Disney plans to adapt into live-action features.

Disney has hired Alex Ross Perry, the writer-director of the Sundance indie "Listen Up Philip," to write the script for this adaptation, according to Deadline. The story will focus on a grown-up Christopher Robin and rediscovering the honey-loving Pooh Bear and the Hundred Acre Wood.

The latest adaptation comes on the heels of Disney's announcement for a live-action "Mulan." The studio has found great success with their already released live-action movies including "Cinderella" and "Maleficent," based on the "Sleeping Beauty" story.

Other adaptations in development include "The Jungle Book" (2016), "Beauty and the Beast" (2017) and "Dumbo" (TBA), as well as an "Alice in Wonderland" sequel from Tim Burton.

A.A. Milne created the teddy bear named Winnie-the-Pooh. The author wrote a collection of stories in the late 1920s before Disney acquired the story and character rights in 1961.
