Robert Downey Jr. is in talks to star in his fourth “Iron Man” franchise installment.

The actor confirmed the “Iron Man 4” negotiations are underway during an interview with the “Ellen” show.

"I know there's going to be a bunch more Marvel movies," he said. "And they have big ideas of how to do it best and we're in the middle of negotiation.” Ellen responded, "So, yes?", to which Downey admitted, "Okay, yes!"

Downey teased the announcement during a Reddit AMA, claiming fans wouldn’t have to wait long for “Iron Man” news.

"Sooner than later the Marvel Roster will be made public and all questions will be answered,” the actor wrote.

However, the actor might be toying with fans as he's gone from saying he'll only star in another "Iron Man" film if Mel Gibson directs to saying he'll only take on the role is Howard Stern is the director.  Check out the videos of both proclamations below.

Downey Jr. also recently spoke about the “Iron Man” franchise during an interview with Deadline about ending his run with Marvel as he approaches 50 years old.

“That’s all being talked about on a bunch of different levels right now,” he told Deadline. “To me, it comes down to what’s the half-life of people enjoying a character? It’s different on TV, where you expect the longevity over seasons while movies get a two or three year break. Marvel keeps stepping up its game, and I appreciate the way Kevin Feige and all the creatives there think.”

“…But I’m not 42, I’m turning 50 and now I’ll have two small kids instead of one grown one, and eight Team Downey projects with people who are imagining I’m not just spending Warner Bros’ money out of vanity, but that I’m taking it seriously. It all has become this thing that has to be figured out. It has come to a head, right now, where the points of departure will be.”

The actor will be reprising his role as Iron Man in the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, set to hit theaters on May 1, 2015.
