Rumors are running wild regarding William Shatner’s possible return to the “Star Trek” franchise.

Badass Digest recently released a report claiming sources are indicating Shatner and original Spock actor Leonard Nimoy will be making a cameo in “Star Trek 3.”

“In the time since then I have been able to nail down more information about Star Trek 3 and about Shatner's scene in particular,” according to Badass Digest. “My sources are now telling me that not only will Shatner be in the movie, his scene will have him meeting Chris Pine.

“Also in that scene: Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy. But if my sources are steering me correct this won't be original timeline Spock - it'll be future alt-timeline Kirk and Spock. Basically the scene will have Kirk and Spock interacting with their future selves.”

Though rumors and speculation are continuing to spread, Shatner has repeatedly denied any involvement in the “Star Trek” movie franchise.

“Let's talk ST. I don't know anything about the current gossip. Nobody has contacted me. Right now it's just rhetoric to cause hype,” Shatner wrote on his official Twitter account.

Shatner has also recently gone on the defensive on his Twitter after some publications published reports claiming an “I’m back” post was confirmation of his return to “Star Trek".

“@SuperHeroHype You create an entire fictional story around a 2 word tweet and all you have to say is I'm sorry? You should dump the author,” he wrote.

“@silaslesnick Let me give you some advice: go back to journalism school before you get into legal troubles for yellow journalism,” he sent to another user.
