“X-Men: Days of Future Past” writer Simon Kinberg hinted at possible appearances of more fan-favorite characters in the next mutant installment.

During a Q&A session with Yahoo! Movies, Kinberg answered fan questions regarding the franchise and the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Kinberg admitted ninja Psylocke was considered for “Days of Future Past.”

“She’s a fan favorite, and also a favorite of mine,” Kinberg told Yahoo. “We have a small part that she plays in ‘Last Stand’, and we talked about including her in ‘DOFP’ quite seriously actually.

“There was a version of the script she was in and we even auditioned some actors in Montreal. But we didn’t feel there was enough of a part she would play in a movie that was already full of many, many mutants.”

Quicksilver’s sister Scarlet Witch was also a character Kinberg wanted to feature in the franchise. The writer described a scene where Quicksilver referred to Scarlet, but it ended up being cut out of “Days of Future Past.”

“When we made ‘DOFP’ there is a reference to her in the scene when they’re at Quicksilver’s house, but we ended up pulling it out because like a lot of things it had to be sacrificed for the main momentum of the film,” Kinberg said. “It’s a character we all love, because everyone loves Quicksilver so much. The more we can do to explore his family, the better. So maybe."

Kinberg also teased Cable could be introduced in the next film, but couldn’t confirm or deny which characters would make an appearance in “X-Men: Apocalypse,” which is slated to hit theaters on May 27, 2016. Watch Kinberg's full Q&A session with Yahoo! Movies here.
