Amid leaks suggesting the specifications and designs of the upcoming iPhone models, a latest report claims that the large screen iPhone will be known as iPhone 6L.

Apple's upcoming iPhone models are reportedly nearing their launch, but rumors continue to pour in. In a recent report by a Chinese website, Apple's rumored large screen iPhone will be called iPhone 6L. The Cupertino tech giant is expected to launch two new iPhone models this year, both with large screens. But the iPhone model in question is the 5.5-inch variant, whose launch has been delayed and will now be launched later this year or early next year.

According to 9to5Mac, Hong Kong-based Apple Daily posted photos of the two new iPhones. The image looks almost identical to the ones released before, showing the components of the next iPhone models. The images do not show the name of the larger iPhone model, but the new name for the 5.5-inch iPhone adds to the heap of rumors building around iPhone 6 for months now.

There is no concrete evidence that the 5.5-inch model will be called iPhone 6L, but it makes sense because Apple may use a different name for at least one of the iPhones. The tech giant uses the "S" initial to mark second generation of its iPhone models. But Apple disrupted the flow last year by launching iPhone 5C - made using cheaper materials. The initial "C" was used as a marker for a new version of the iPhone model. Considering this, it is safe to assume that the larger iPhone may take a new initial as it does not succeed any of the previous models.

The 4.7-inch model will feature Apple's brand new design and will likely be succeeded by iPhone 6S in the future. So it is more likely that the 4.7-inch iPhone will be called iPhone 6.

In addition to leaking a new name, Apple Daily also claimed the battery sizes in both iPhones. The 5.5-inch iPhone model will reportedly sport a larger 2915mAh battery, while the 4.7-inch iPhone will pack 1810mAh battery, which is a major overhaul compared to iPhone 5S' 1560mAh battery.

Previous leaks have noted various details such as use of unbreakable sapphire-crystal screens for the new iPhones, faster processors and latest iOS 8. At least one of the iPhones, most likely the 4.7-inch model, will debut at a special media event scheduled for September 9.
