Nicole Murphy publicly announced her split from fiancé Michael Strahan on Friday, Aug. 1 after reportedly "confirming" that he had been dating another woman. A source told TMZ that Murphy first caught wind that Strahan was cheating back in July but couldn't prove it.

Reportedly she started investigating and was finally convinced on Friday, which happened to be the day before Strahan was set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Immediately Murphy went public with the split.

A source told TMZ that the timing was not revenge and merely a coincidence. It was reported that the two started having problems two years ago when Strahan took a job with "Live! With Kelly and Michael."

Sources said once the athlete took the hosting gig, he and Murphy hardly saw each other. He was filming on the East Coast and she was filming "Hollywood Exes" on the West Coast. According to People magazine, neither one is letting the split stop them from moving on.

Reportedly both Strahan and Murphy are already dating new people.

"They've been having problems for two years and have been off and on throughout," a source told People. "Him dating someone would come as no surprise for Nicole."

Murphy and Strahan first met in 2007, one year after they divorced other people. The reality star had split from actor Eddie Murphy, while Strahan ended his marriage to Jean Muggli. In 2009 they got engaged but never finalized any wedding plans.

"It had been the longest engagement ever," a source close to Murphy told People. "She would always get so defensive about it, saying, 'We're taking our time, we're taking our time,' and all of her girlfriends on the show would always push her. It had obviously become a point a contention [for her]."

The source said the breakup did not come as a surprise to anyone.
