A 25-year-old homeless man was subdued at ABC Studios on Tuesday, July 1 after allegedly pulling out a knife and threatening to kill Michael Strahan. According to Fox 411, Andre Johnson showed up to the Times Square studio at about 8:00 a.m. when the cast of "Good Morning America" typically greets fans on the sidewalk.

"The suspect went to the entrance of ABC Studios and demanded that security let him in the studio," a police source told Fox 411. "He was denied entrance, at which time he showed a knife. He [then] attempted to stab a security guard."

A rep for ABC said that a police officer quickly intervened before the situation got out of control.

"We're incredibly thankful that a police officer on duty nearby quickly stepped in to help," the rep said.

Strahan joined the cast of "GMA" back in April and also appears on "LIVE! With Kelly and Michael," alongside Kelly Ripa. According to Fox, during a debriefing Johnson told police that "he was there to kill Michael Strahan." Offices said the homeless man did not tell that to security while he was at the studio.

According to the New York Post, which was first to report the news, Johnson has been charged with felony attempted assault as well as menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. He is reportedly being held without bail.

The retired New York Giants player has not commented on the incident but his fiancé, Nicole Murphy, told TMZ that Strahan was "doing good."
