Photos and useful specs about the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini have appeared online; tipped to feature heart-rate monitor, fingerprint scanner and more.

Samsung, the biggest smartphone manufacturer, is reportedly heading towards the launch of the final variant of its flagship Galaxy S5, the S5 Mini. The focus on the miniature version of the current flagship is on the rise after the Korean tech giant officially announced the Galaxy K Zoom and Galaxy S5 Active, a traditional move on Samsung's behalf for each of its flagship. The new leak of the S5 Mini by a Samsung-focused news publication, Sam Mobile, reveals some of the most important details that make the S5 mini worth the wait.

The near-to-official confirmation of the S5 Mini came from Samsung earlier last month, when a handset with model number SM-G800F appeared on the company's official Finnish website. The model number SM-G800F is linked to the Galaxy S5 Mini handset. While it is certain that the mini version of the Samsung 2014 flagship is on its way, the specifications of the handset have been the topic of much speculations.

Sam Mobile's new leak gives a closer look at the S5 Mini and some of the specs are what Samsung fans have wanted long. Design-wise, as one can expect, the S5 Mini has close similarities with its elder sibling in a smaller package. The back cover will feature a perforated design and round corners. The technical specifications have been trimmed down compared to its higher model.

While the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was stripped down of core S4 features, leaving a low-end device in the hands of consumers, the S5 Mini is here to surprise if the leaked specs are any indication. According to the report, the rumored handset will borrow the fingerprint scanner and the heart-rate monitor, both features exclusive to the Galaxy S5. Samsung ditched the fingerprint scanner in its Galaxy S5 Active smartphone for rugged physical buttons, but the inclusion in S5 mini is certainly a welcome.

The leaked images show a rubber gasket attached to the inside of the back cover, which means the device will be water-resistant. Unfortunately, the lack of a flap covering the USB port will not win the handset IP6 ratings.

The core technical details also appear slightly different than the previously leaked reports. While the screen is still expected to have a 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, an unannounced Exynos 3 Quad clocking speeds at 1.4GHz and a 450MHz Mali-400 GPU is rumored to power the device. Other specs include a 1.5GB, 8-megapixel camera with Full HD video recording and a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera, 16GB of internal storage with expandable options and Android 4.4 KitKat. The smartphone is also expected to feature S5's Ultra Power Saving Mode, Private Mode, Kids Mode and more.

Details on the release date and availability are unknown till date.
