Samsung officially launched the Galaxy K Zoom at the Red Dot Museum in Singapore, Tuesday morning, giving a detailed look of the new camera-focused smartphone.

Samsung, the world's largest smartphone making company, announced the Galaxy K Zoom with advanced camera technology during its "Kapture The Moment" event in Red Dot Museum, Singapore, Tuesday.  The new camera-focused smartphone, as previously reported by the media, features impressive camera functions packed within the high-end smartphone. The under-the-hood specs are as expected with several l extra features

Samsung's latest smartphone succeeds the previous camera-focused Galaxy S4 Zoom. The K Zoom was first teased by the Korean tech giant earlier this month and on Monday the company posted a video on Instagram hinting at the release. The first teaser did not give away much details but the emphasis on the letter K suggested the rumored K Zoom launch. But the video posted on Instagram cemented the hopes of seeing the successor to the Galaxy S4 Zoom.

"With the introduction of the Galaxy K zoom, Samsung continues to demonstrate our commitment to creating products that meet the diverse demands of our consumers," Sun Hong Lim, Senior Vice President of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, said in a press release. "The new Galaxy K zoom empowers users to effortlessly capture and share their most important everyday moments in stunning clarity, with the convenience and connectedness of a Galaxy smartphone, for a unique, all-in-one mobile experience."

Samsung Galaxy K Zoom Camera

Samsung's latest addition to the Galaxy family is a perfect choice for camera enthusiasts. Users can always be on the ready to take that perfect shot without the necessity of carrying a digital camera or an SLR every time. The built-in pro-like camera is equipped with a retracting lens that offers 10x optical zoom, and a 20.7 megapixel Back Side Illumination CMOS sensor for crisp and detailed images.

The Optical Image Stabilizer reduces the possibility of noisy images and gives vibrant results even in low-light conditions. Samsung has also replaced the LED flash with Xenon to give a natural light in dark surroundings. Zooming into focus on a particular object maintains the clarity, Samsung says.

The Galaxy K Zoom also boasts new camera features that add more convenience for the photographers to get best images. The camera smartphone includes Auto Focus/ Auto Exposure Separation for the perfect balance of light and clarity, Selfie Alarm that gives users time to take a moment before clicking and up to 5 filter settings. The standard camera functions such as Best Face, Panorama, Dawn, Snow, Animated, Sound Shot and others are a part of Galaxy K Zoom camera. Users can also take advantage of the Studio app for easy editing of pictures and videos.

Design

Though Samsung has packed a 10x optical zoom lens into the Galaxy K Zoom, users needn't be worried about the phone being bulky. The new design is sleek and compact and measures 137.5 X 70.8 X 16.6(20.2) mm and weighs 200grams. Like the Galaxy S5, the K Zoom features a perforated back cover for a better grip and a stylish look.

The Galaxy K Zoom is complimented by a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The sleek body also packs a 2,430mAh battery for users to take advantage of both camera and smartphone functionalities.

Under The Hood

Just as the advanced camera features in the Galaxy K Zoom, Samsung has added quite impressive specifications to shoot up the smartphone. The K Zoom is powered by a Hexa core processor, which is 1.3GHz Quad-Core and 1.7GHz Dual-Core processor combined, 2GB RAM, 4G LTE support, 8 GB internal storage and expandable up to 64GB. The Samsung TouchWiz interface is layered on Google's latest Android 4.4 system and also features Ultra Power Saving Mode, Kids Mode and S Health Lite app for fitness tracking.

Competition

By launching the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom, the Korean tech giant is going head to head with Nokia, which started offering 20-megapixel camera long before anyone. While Nokia's 1020 offers 20-megapixel PureView camera, the Lumia 1020 is the monster compared to any camera-focused smartphone in the market. It offers 41-megapixel camera sensor and is categorized under the phablet section. Samsung is taking one step at a time on its camera-focused smartphone category, while it is more focused on the flagship smartphone space where the Galaxy S5 is doing incredibly well.

Samsung has kept the pricing and availability details under wraps for the moment.
