Hans Zimmer has confirmed he is set to score the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman" title.

During an interview with Digital Spy, the Oscar-winning musician revealed he is returning to score the music for the "Man of Steel" sequel.

"We've already had a couple of chats, and once I finish the movie that I shall not talk about I will probably head over to where Zack is shooting his movie and just hang out a bit and see if we can come up with any ideas," Zimmer said.

Zimmer also scored Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy, which is causing an inner conflict for the musician.  Zimmer explained to Digital Spy he wants to create a new sound for Ben Affleck's Batman, but doesn't want to betray what he created for Christian Bale.

"That's my problem, that's my dilemma. I don't want to betray, if that's the right word, the Dark Knight movies. That was Christian, it was Christian's role," he told Digital Spy.  "It's not just that it was nine years of our lives, so you want to stay honest and honourable to that period. So it's really about, 'Is there something else I can find that I haven't tapped into?' Which I don't know until I sit down with Zack."

"Batman vs. Superman" is slated to open in theaters on May 6, 2016 despite rumors claiming the production will change its release date due to "Captain America" hitting theaters on the same day. Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros., confirmed to Bloomberg "Man of Steel 2" will be released on its scheduled launch date.

"It doesn't make a lot of sense for two huge superhero films to open on the same date but there is a lot of time between now and 5/6/16," Fellman said. "However at this time, we are not considering a change of date for 'Batman vs. Superman.'"
