Lynda Carter made Wonder Woman one of the biggest mainstream superheroes in he three-season run as Amazonian warrior in the mid 1970s, but is on "Batman vs. Superman" actress Gal Gadot's side when it comes to taking on the role.

Carter played Diana Prince from 1975 to 1979 for a total of 60 episodes, so the actress isn't skeptical about Gadot's ability to take on the role, but is concerned the writers won't do her character justice.

"I'm in her corner," Carter told the Huffington Post, referring to Gadot. "I just hope they write well for her!"

"I'm very hopeful she embodies the essence of Wonder Woman," she added. "It's less about super powers and more about heart and intellect and a sense of right and wrong with a goodness in her...Often times, writers really want to take a male superhero and dress him up as a female - and that's just not who she is."

Carter's statements reiterate what she had to say about Gadot to Metro back in 2013. The former Wonder Woman explained she's glad the character being introduced again to a mainstream audience and doesn't find it odd to see another female take on her role.

"I don't think so," Carter said. "It was a long time ago. I care more about the character continuing than holding on to my piece of it. I hope she has fun with it."

However, she is thankful Gadot doesn't have to star in a solo film just yet.

"She won't have to carry the whole film. It takes the pressure off," Carter told Metro. "I wish her well. I'm just glad she's going to be out there again. Maybe she'll get her own show again."

"Batman vs. Superman" will be released to theaters on May 6, 2016 in the United States and April 29, 2016 in the United Kingdom.
