Dominion accused Fox and Fox Corp of ruining its business when it aired claims that they machines were used to rig the 2020 US presidential election in favor of President Joe Biden against former president Donald Trump.

Fox and Fox Corp were able to avert a six-week trial in Delaware Superior court with the deal, which is half of the $1.6 billion Dominion sought. Legal experts state that this is by far, the largest ever defamation settlement that was publicly announced by an American media company.

Fox stated that the judge found specific claims about Dominion to be false and it's hoping the deal helps the country move forward with these issues. However, the lawyers of the network will remain busy to navigate the lag fallout of the 2020 election coverage with a potentially far more damaging defamation lawsuit by Smartmactic and a separate but related lawsuit by a recently fired producer.

It remains unclear whether the deal of Fox with Dominion means it's willing to settle with Smartmatic.

Smartmatic is seeking $2.7 billion in damages from the network and five individuals, which includes former Trump lawyers and hosts.

According to Smartmatic, the defendants knowingly spread false claims that its software was used to flip votes. The company is also committed to clearing its name.

Fox Denies Allegations

The network said in a recent statement that they had the right to report on highly newsworthy allegations of voter fraud. It also called Smartmatic's claims "outrageous."

Also, Fox is not showing any indication that it is interested in settling the lawsuit by a former producer.

According to Smartmatic, Fox News repeatedly aired false and defamatory statements about the company, including claims that it.

Smartmatic asserts that these claims are entirely baseless and that Fox News knew or should have known that they were false.

Smartmatic's lawsuit against Fox News is a clear indication that voting technology companies are no longer willing to tolerate baseless allegations and conspiracy theories.

As the battle for truth and transparency in the election process continues, it is clear that those who spread lies and misinformation will be held accountable for their actions.

The issue of election integrity has become a hot topic in recent years, and the role of voting technology companies like Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems has come under increased scrutiny. While these companies play an important role in ensuring fair elections, they have also been subject to baseless allegations and conspiracy theories that threaten their reputation.
