"Assassin's Creed" might be a successful video game franchise, but it's possibly struggling to translate the success into a film.

According to Latino Review, the "Assassin's Creed" movie has not signed on a director, even with actor Michael Fassbender already signed to play Desmond Miles and a release date set for 2015.  However, a name has finally popped up for a potential director: Daniel Espinosa.

"If you haven't seen Safe House, chances are you haven't seen anything Swede Daniel Espinosa has directed," The Latino Review reports.  "Mostly because those movies are not in English. If you saw Easy Money, you probably remember it more as the first time Joel Kinnaman (soon to be the new Robocop) made a name for himself."

"So, it's entirely possible that the rumor that Espinosa is circling New Regency's film adaptation of Assassin's Creed is true, as he seems like an action and budget friendly director for this sort of fare (producer Michael Fassbender is attached to play the lead)," according to The Latino Review.  "However, New Regency is shooting this rumor down whenever it comes up, so...that's on the other hand.  If Assassin's Creed is going to make a 2015 release, though, it'd better get a director onboard."

It might help if someone knew what was going in the world of "Assassin's Creed".  Back in October 2013, Fassbender told the Daily Beast the script was currently in development, but didn't know the story line because he'd never played the game.

"We're just developing the script at the moment. I'd heard of it but had never played the game. I don't have a video game player ... that's not what they're called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting-the idea of reliving memories," Fassbender said.

The "Assassin's Creed" movie is slated to hit theaters on June 19, 2015.
